THE OWNER SPENT $220,000 ON THIS RESTORATION!
This impeccably restored 1984 26 Bertram Express (Moppie) is like brand NEW (and has been winter stored in a heated garage since restoration)! The owner is a Bertram enthusiast who spent years seeking this particular hull for a full restoration. The vessel was acquired from its original owner in late 2014 and beginning in 2015 underwent a detailed restoration and full refit that was completed in late 2018. The boat has been made like new from top to bottom and is one of only 52 ever produced by Bertram! The Express is the rare straight inboard model with engines located midship to give ample cruising and fishing room in the cockpit.
She has been repowered with twin fresh water cooled 5.7L MerCruiser(s) that are 310 HP each and currently have approximately 320 hours. The engine stringers were redone prior to having the new engines installed to ensure the boat is rock solid and tight as new. The entire hull (inside and out) was redone and painted with All Craft yacht paint in the original Oyster White (as it came from the Bertram factory). Even the window frames have been etched, primed, and All Craft sprayed to give the vessel a clean and sleek look.
The entire deck (cockpit, helm and interior cabin) has been redone and topped with Deck King synthetic teak to give the boat a classic feel that will require minimum maintenance to look pristine for many years.
Marine specific Infinity carpet has been installed on the walls of the cabin and cockpit and Marine Mat has been fitted for the interior bunks.
The hard top (1/2 tower) was custom made by Tower Power and designed to have no cross bracing to give the top a crisp and clean look with no visual interference from cross bars. To ensure the structural integrity of the hard top is never compromised, extra thick (2+ inch) tubing has been used). The eisenglass and combing pads have been done by a top shop and the front windows are made from a scratch resistant material.
Newer Bennett trim tabs.
The boat came from the factory with two transom fish boxes and during the refit, the owner had custom Nautical Design helm and guest seats made with custom tackle centers built in (seats alone were $5,000). To compliment the seats, Boat Outfitters custom tackle centers and draws have been fitted into the bulkhead and other locations on the vessel.
The hard top has eight (8) rocket launchers and the gunwale is fitted with six (6) Lee trolling rod holders.
Absolutely every piece of hardware on the vessel has been either redone or reproduced (including the original Bertram/Perko cleats).
Everything on the vessel has been restored to factory spec or improved upon, down to the engine air vents that have been remanned to have higher bases for better performance and to ensure water stays out of the vents. Heavy duty SWWD and hardware. The fuel tank has been replaced with a new aluminum (epoxy coated) 125 gallon centerline tank.
The helm has been customized with hinges to provide easy access to electrical wiring and helm components if needed. Prior to installing the electronics, the vessel was rewired to ensure there were no issues due to faulty electrical systems. The boat has new electronics which include a touch screen 4212 Garmin GPS / Plotter / Radar Ready (no dome), Garmin 9 inch MAP for depth and redundancy on GPS, ICOM-M506 (has all capabilities including MIS# with positioning), JBL CD/Radio, SmartCraft vessel view / flow scans and monitoring system. New batteries just installed.
The vessel is fitted with three bilge pumps and new SeaStar shafts.
The boat has been lightly used and the owner is selling due to health reasons. The owner has invested about $220,000 into this restoration over the last few years and is willing to sell at a major discount to allow a new owner to enjoy this boat.
Asking $79,900 or best reasonable offer!
