1917 Custom Bell Laboratories Yawl 59

Dundee, Nova Scotia, Canada

$125,000

Built in 1917 for Alexander Graham Bell; the "Elsie" still reigns as "Queen of the Bras d'Or Lakes".

Naval architect George Owen of MIT using data and input from Alexander Graham Bell drew the lines especially for the wave and wind patterns typically encountered on the Lakes with careful construction by Walter Pinaud.

By 1990 age had taken its toll and the grand-daughter of AG Bell started a planned restoration, however it wasn't feasible. A local resort stepped in and assumed ownership of Elsie. She received thousands of hours(1993-96) by numerous craftsman and tradesman who erased the effects of time. A new deck and over 50% of the hull planking was replaced in addition to upgrading systems to bring the Elsie into the '90's.

This classic yacht “Elsie” is now coming to market in an Estate Sale after a huge refit and season sailing in 2017-2018.

There is a 2019 survey on file listing the boat in overall Good Condition and a market valuation of 180,000 USD.   Please contact our office for more information.
